I bought 3 different air purifiers at the same time, and this turned out the best. It cleans the air so well and doesn't make much noise. When I walk pass my boys' room where I placed it, I could feel the fresh air. It is very helpful in reducing my boy's sinus problem due to allergy (Of course, I still need to clean their room every week and change their bedsheets too for the best result). Strongly recommend it. Although this air purifier is a little bit pricier, but I would say the money is well spent and I wish I had bought another one of these instead of the other 2 cheaper ones. I bought this air purifier because my infant was showing signs of allergies - sneezing, rubbing her eyes, etc. Within an hour of turning on this filter, everyone in the household stopped having sneezing fits and our baby doesn't have red, itchy eyes anymore. I'm amazed by how well it works. The unit is really quiet.

The only thing I don't like about it is the size. It's huge! At a foot and a half wide it takes up a lot of space. You can't easily hide this thing next to the sofa. Alright, so I just bought this so I can't say much about reliability, but I had to post a review online because I'm incredibly impressed with they way my apartment smells now. I have 2 cats, and litterbox odor is a big problem for me...I'm a neat freak, and I can't stand anything that smells dirty so I went out and bought this to help take care of the issue.

And this is really the best part.

I CAN'T EVEN TELL I HAVE CATS ANYMORE. Yes, it's that good. Granted, there's a bit of a rubbery smell because the filters are new, but it'll fade in time. All I did was put it in the same room as the litterbox, turn it on HIGH for about 5 minutes, and the smell was gone. I've since switched it down to low and let it run, and the room smells like it did when I moved in.

Another great thing about this unit is the filters are permanent, which means you never have to buy more. Just pull them out and wash them when the light comes on (yes, it tells you when to clean the filter). That basically pays for itself in a year or two if you look at the price of filters in comparable units.

I will say that it's not the most quiet unit, especially on high, but medium is tolerable and low is barely noticeable if you're in the same room.

My wife loves her cats (multiple), and her dogs (also multiple); she mostly tolerates the kids and me. This winter my allergies were reaching critical mass. My wife gave me this Air Purifier for our room, as a Christmas present, and it has been amazing. One side note, the device puts out a good deal of white noise, personally, I like that, as it helps me sleep, others might find it annoying. My next step is to get them for every other room. We purchased the unit after observing one our granddaught er had purchased at Home Depot. We were very amazed by how quiet the unit was on the lower speeds which was a number one requirement for us.

It was delivered on time and was very easy to set up and begin operating. Our unit was white in color and was called "Kitchen". Our granddaughters was black in color and evidently was for a living room, this made no difference in operations, just for decorative purposes.

We do not use the Ionization setting as suggested because I do have a breathing problem. Also we are not smokers so we did not use the odor pre-filter that was provided with the unit.

We give the unit 5 stars for efficency and quiet operation. REVIEWS..........

Honeywell 50150. I bought two units of this model around New Year. One for the bedroom (16 x 16) and one for the living room 19 x 20). My husband and I both love it. It is really noisy when you set the fan to high (level 3). So, we set the fan to low while we are in the house, and set it back to high before we leave the house for work (but mostly we forgot). It is still working great on the low fan! I used to cough a lot between Winter and Spring, we have been using these air purifiers for months now and I have not cough since. Honeywell HHT-081. One thing I learned about filters is that you definitely get what you pay for. When you drop big coin on a pricey, hospital quality filter you can expect perfection in performance and air quality. When you spend $75-$125 like I did on this air filter then you get what you pay for. This medium room purifier with "HEPA Type" filters is said to be about 95% effective at removing air born allergens. The two HEPA type filters are permanent along with the secondary outer carbon filter for bigger air particles. The ionizer is also fairly effective at changing the overall smell of the room. If you choose not to have the ion smell you can simply ignore the button that turns that feature on. I've owned this filter for about 3 months now and it will occasionally buzz a little at high speeds. However, with mine it is easily fixed by tapping the top or by adjusting the tightness of the back plate. Low and medium speeds are pretty quite though. It has great dimensions as well making it possible to easily fit in to any small room without making the place look cluttered. 

For the money I feel like I got everything I paid for. I gave 4 stars because of the occasional soft buzzing noise and the fact that the purifier is designed in such a way that it does not push as much air through as it could. Aside from those minor complaints, this filter is the way to go if you're looking for a cheap and effective solution to cleaner air.

Honeywell HFD-110. This is an excellent air purifier. It can also be used as a fan, which I use it to sleep at night. It is very quiet except on high setting. But what fan isn't noisy on the high setting? I cleaned the filter by running water through it under the sink. It had a collected a nice bit of dust that would have otherwise entered my lungs.
