Super clean

My wife and I purchased this air purifier to get rid of the musty smell in our 1850's home. We have a full basement and the 1st floor always is musty. It very quickly starts putting out clean smelling air. For us the air smelled too clean though, like someone just Lysol cleaned the whole 1st floor, but it kept that smell all the time. It was a little too clean smelling for us, so we moved it to the basement. Now the basement smells clean, and the mold isn't growing which has made the upper floors of the house smell neutral (yay!). Unless you really like a overly clean smell all the time I would not recommend this product for single rooms or even inside your house, but if you have a musty basement then this product is amazing. REVIEWS..........

FANTASTIC EQUIPMENT

After 1 month of use, this IQAir unit earns my highest recommendation. I researched air purifiers for about a week before buying two IQAir units, one with the odor filter (Pro-Plus), and one without (Pro) to help with allergies and asthma symptoms that my family suffers from. Both of them work absolutely perfectly, with significant symptom relief within the first week of use. The packaging was very secure, with each unit contained in double boxes similar to what you find with high-end stereo equipment, including thick styrofoam inserts for cushioning. The unpacked units were sparkling new and clean, with an inspection page that detailed the performance actual performance for my unit at each of the five individual speeds. The manual was nicely organized and easy to comprehend.

These are sturdy units that are somewhat heavy, but come with a convenient handle recessed on the top, as well caster wheels (which are optional to install) to roll the unit if you need to move it periodically. The manual recommends clearance of at least 12 inches on all sides for optimal performance, so keep this in mind for placement in your room. It is noisy at the highest setting, but works very effectively at quieter settings 2 or 3 in my 13' x 16' room. I also use an IQAir unit in a 20 x 20 room, and it cleans the air very well at setting 3. My son noticed so much improvement in his allergies and breathing after just two days of use, that when I moved the unit to another room for a night, he begged me to return it to his bedroom. We went on vacation for a few days, and he said that he could not wait to get back home because he missed the IQAir purifier.

Great air cleaner (don't call it a filter!)

ha... I suppose you can call it an air filter... but they say Air Cleaner...

I ordered this to add to my old furnace, but then decided to upgrade the furnace too. So I had the HVAC guy put it in when they installed the new furnace.

Then we had the ducts cleaned too.

All the HVAC guys and the duct cleaner guy made comments about this being a great air cleaner.

We've been using it for a few weeks now and it seems to work just fine. Our new furnace has the variable speed blower so we just leave the blower on 24-7 (it runs at very low speed till the furnace or AC kicks on)

Because of this, we aren't using the fancy air cleaner control right now... so I can't comment on that.

I also can't comment yet about filter life.

But one interesting thing... the filter comes in a little box... its not in a cardboard frame like you might be used to seeing with standard filters (when I first opened the air cleaner I thought they forgot to include the filter!)

The filter is all collapsed (like an accordion) and you have to install it into the plastic frame. This is pretty easy to do - you just snap on the top and bottom and then insert a bunch (6 maybe?) of plastic combs between the filter pleats to hold them in the proper position. The filter is about 4" or 5" thick... which creates a lot of surface area for collecting dust and whatnot. (standard filters are only 1" thick)

Once you have it in place, you snap the ends of the plastic box shut... they have foam or something on them so they seal up tight against the ends of the filter medium to prevent any air from "bypassing" the filter.

I mainly mention this for those that might wonder why replacement filters are only like $25 (last I checked)...

I paid 50% of the listed price because it had a persistent squeaky sound. Turned out the fan blade was rubbing the internal electrical wire. Once corrected, the unit worked flawlessly. On low the unit generates noise above my threshold for night time sleeping, so I run it during the day only. The noise is from the powerful clean air being expelled from the air purifier. Let me first say that I was very skeptic about these air purifiers in the first place... I only got one because my cat yes cat, had been sick for about a year with a running nose and eyes, weezing, and just plain sick. The vet bills were getting crazy! I had gotten x-rays and kitty drugs and I felt so bad as she was getting sicker. One day a nice lady at work asked me if anyone smoked in our building (we live in a two-flat). The couple downstairs did. So I bought the Honeywell with the filter that does not need to be replaced and holly cow! I leave it on day and night and in a matter of days kitty is all better! I really am so impressed and the hepa fillter is a must.

The smell in our place is fresh smelling as soon as you walk into the stairwell it smells of smoke. So if your pets are in the house all day spend the $100 bucks and give them some nice fresh air and more comfortable living enviroment. REVIEWS........

I have this in my basement as it is the room with the most dust as well as my HVAC has its primary draw from this room. This Honeywell works as advertised as long as you change the charcoal filter when the little light comes on.

The only con is the spinning fan was a little off balance. So when it is on high, you can here a little bit of whom-ping sound. I called Honeywell, and they overnighted a new one. This one had the same issue, but not nearly as bad and not noticeable. I think i only heard it b/c i was looking for it.

Its footprint is pretty large, so it may be an eyesore if you have it in a main room. REVIEWS..........

Very Pleased

This is my first air purifier but I am very pleased even though I have nothing to compare it to.

I am a smoker and my wife is not but I no longer have to open the door when I smoke I just sit near the purifier and we are both happy, lol,

Also I live in Las Vegas such a dusty city in the deset and our apartment is so much cleaner now. I see the filter and have cleaned it once not because I had to just a personal preference.

some may say there is noisy on high but really it is not bad, low and medium there is no sound at all. I just keep it on high because I smoke.

I had a hard time choosing which model to buy but glad did not rush and picked this one. no filters to replace ionizer if I want, osilating if I want, I am very please would recommend it to anyone. REVIEWS..........

Good Bang For Your Buck

Product works as stated. I noticed a difference in air quality after less than a day of use. The air flow is excellent...many units have restricted flow, but this unit has two fans and is capable of cleaning the air with ease, with out all the noise some other units make on high (Compared to my last 2 Oreck's that were LOUD when put on high). Over all great product for the price. Love the replaceable UV lights...went on KAZ website and found them to be affordably priced...also like the permanent filters as this was a concern in other competitors models-no filters to replace means cheaper over long term ( Avg. Lots of air purifiers get a bum rap due to the noise. I like to sleep with this unit about 3 feet from me on the low setting. The thing about the noise is that it is a different pitch than a normal fan, but it is definately a large amount of white noise. I don't mind it.

The two things that I can say for sure. One is that it really does work. The dust in any room that you put this in will go down quickly.

The other thing that I can say is that I sleep better because of this machine. No doubt about it. I have much less congestion when I wake up and I am told I snore less.

Knowing what I know now, I would definately buy this product again with no hesitation.

This is excellent value for the money. The fan is noiser than on more expensive models, but no lounder than a regular fan. I own the other Honeywell air pufier that looks similar to this unit but it is in white and LOVE it. So, when this upgrade came out, I decided to give it a go...esp because it had UV as well. I leave it running all day and night and it keeps the air feeling pure and clean. It is quiet and smooth. I am now considering buying a 3rd (an addition HFD135) for my family room. Highly recommended!

I own two of these air filters and I love them. These air filters do an excellent job of cleaning the air in relatively short order and I keep these air filters in the bedrooms for clean air sleeping. I recently moved into a older house that has dirty HVAC ducting and while I am slowly cleaning those ducts out I needed a temporary fix. Additionally, I own a dog that sheds a lot and I have a child with severe allergies. Additionally, I am also an allergy sufferer (mold and cats). After doing extensive research on air filters, I decided to go with this Honeywell 50100 HEPA filter. There are a couple of reasons for decision. 1) The overall cost of this filter is the lowest (unit + replacement filters) I found at the time. I bought the unit for around $80. The average HEPA filter replacement is around $20. 2) The second reason I bought this unit is that I like noise. This is not one of those whisper quiet HEPA filters and that is OK by me. I am a big fan of white noise (after all I have two kids that like to get up early and make noise). This unit on its lowest setting is fairly quiet. However, the medium setting is loud and the high setting sounds like a jet passing overhead. Most of the time I have the unit set on medium. This is loud enough to drown out the garbage man picking up trash at 4 am. I have been happy with Honeywell products in the past and this is no exception. I also own a larger Honeywell HEPA filter that uses the same filter type as these units so I buy them in bulk. These filters also use a prefilter that goes around the outside of the HEPA filter. Using this filter extends the life of the HEPA filter tremendously. I vacuum the prefilter every couple of months or so. I recommend this filter to anyone who appreciates a well made decently priced HEPA filtration unit and doesn't mind a bit of noise.

Air purifiers for room. I purchased this today at Fry's Electronics for $199, but really wanted a 5300 model, which they were out of as it is being discontinued. Later I found 5300 model could be purchased at Walgreens for $149. The only difference between the two as far as I can see is that there is a washable filter in the 5500, which might save me some money in the long run. My home showed "green" but I put it on the top speed to clear out the air anyway. It is loud at that speed, but very quiet at first 2 speeds. Later I will like the auto mode which switches to whatever the sensor thinks the fan should be on according to air quality. It is nice looking. I can't say much now but it seems a little overpriced to me. I did not buy the extended warranty and hope nothing goes wrong as it only has a 1 year warranty. You still must replace the carbon filters every 3 months. Besides the one in the unit they give you 3 more carbon filters so this should last a year but maybe more if I vacuum it. The other washable filter should be washed every 6 months and can be washed 6 times and then must be replaced.  REVIEWS..........

I purchased this about a month ago and it has made a big improvement in my breathing. I have allergies and when I used to wake up in the morning I would be all congested, not any more. This has (3) variable settings High, Medium, Low which is nice because on the high setting it can be difficult to fall asleep, however on the low setting it helps me fall asleep. I have yet to clean it's reusable filter, as the digital read out shows that it is not yet dirty and I have ran it almost everyday for at least (4) hours at a time? It has a timer that will shut it off (1-10 hours). It would be nice if the timer could automatically turn the unit on? Overall I am very happy with this unit and do recommend it.
