Air purifiers for room. I purchased this today at Fry's Electronics for $199, but really wanted a 5300 model, which they were out of as it is being discontinued. Later I found 5300 model could be purchased at Walgreens for $149. The only difference between the two as far as I can see is that there is a washable filter in the 5500, which might save me some money in the long run. My home showed "green" but I put it on the top speed to clear out the air anyway. It is loud at that speed, but very quiet at first 2 speeds. Later I will like the auto mode which switches to whatever the sensor thinks the fan should be on according to air quality. It is nice looking. I can't say much now but it seems a little overpriced to me. I did not buy the extended warranty and hope nothing goes wrong as it only has a 1 year warranty. You still must replace the carbon filters every 3 months. Besides the one in the unit they give you 3 more carbon filters so this should last a year but maybe more if I vacuum it. The other washable filter should be washed every 6 months and can be washed 6 times and then must be replaced.  REVIEWS..........

I purchased this about a month ago and it has made a big improvement in my breathing. I have allergies and when I used to wake up in the morning I would be all congested, not any more. This has (3) variable settings High, Medium, Low which is nice because on the high setting it can be difficult to fall asleep, however on the low setting it helps me fall asleep. I have yet to clean it's reusable filter, as the digital read out shows that it is not yet dirty and I have ran it almost everyday for at least (4) hours at a time? It has a timer that will shut it off (1-10 hours). It would be nice if the timer could automatically turn the unit on? Overall I am very happy with this unit and do recommend it. Had no faith the money would pay off...but then....

Air purifiers for room. My allergies are just a constantly slight annoyance since moving to Texas. I'm always on the stuffy side...random sneeze attacks, drippy nose. I'm always breathing out of my mouth. My husband insisted we buy this filter, and I had no faith it would help at all, because I couldn't imagine a FAN basically could clear the air of whatever bothers me. However, this works. When I'm stuffy, I turn on the hepa filter, and within 20 minutes of it being on high, I can turn it to low because I will be able to breathe again through my nose. It just really cleans the air. This was worth the money. I bought it to make my husband happy, but now it has actually helped me. I hope other people try it to find relief. REVIEWS..........

We bought two of these in fall 06. After two months use, one of the units had a fan failure. It ran noisily for a few days prior to the failure, then ground to a halt. I called Kaz's customer service (the Honeywell name is licensed), and they agreed to send me a new one free. After five months use, the second unit failed in exactly the same way. This time, customer service required me to pay $20 for a new one to be shipped, and they required in each case the return of the defective one at my cost for shipping. They are simply NOT durable! We now have one in service, with the other as a backup since we anticipate a product failure this winter. One other thing: they are awkward to fill. The water chamber has a curved bottom so it will not sit flat in your sink. You have to balance it with one hand, and operate the faucet and put on the lid with the other. This design defect is SO obvious it makes you wonder how function followed form in product design. You also need a fairly deep sink or a tall spigot to fill it without tipping it and spilling. The filling problem is aggravating since you need to fill it at least twice daily. As far as ability to humidify, it works reasonably well, and is fairly quiet. But I wouldn't recommend this unit at all after living with it. Air purifiers for room

I had to reiterate the period because I have done very few Amazon reviews. Simply put, I have an allergy to cats. I've lived with cats my entire life and never had an allergy, but in my old age I've developed allergies which made me sneeze, eyes water, and THROAT CLOSE. My friend has cats and I couldn't be in his house for more than 30-45 minutes before I needed to go outside to let my allergies subside and so that I can breathe properly. My wife and I have just got a new kitten and my first day home without allergy medicine my throat closed and needed to get away from him. I bought this unit to see if I could live with this cat. I couldn't be happier. I have been without allergy medicine for the last three days and have not had a single problem with my allergies. The cat sleeps and plays on my lap and STILL no allergies. this unit is very impressive. I love cats and was not happy that I was allergic to them, but now everything seems to be just fine. I am very happy with my purchase and recommend anyone with allergies to pets to get this unit!

Remarkable the amount this unit traps

We've had this unit for 5 months now and it is remarkable how much debris is captured in the carbon pre-filters. They are supposed to be replaced approximately every 6 months and I plan on that. However, I am vacuuming them every 2 months or so due to the amount trapped. Since we bought it we are experiencing very little dust on the surfaces in the bedroom where our unit is used.

Someone complained about the cost of the filters as the HEPA filters should be replaced every 12 months at $20 per filter (price at Target--2 for $39.99), but if this unit continues to clean the way it has so far, I don't mind paying the approximately $75 for filters per year. That's not much considering what we do not have to breathe in and the significantly reduced cleaning of the window blinds. The Holmes HAP756-U significantly outperforms units we have elsewhere in our condominium.  REVIEWS..........

To my Surprise, it works

I am one of those people that; When people review products and say they help with whatever nuance I am currently trying to remedy, it never ends up working for me like it appears to for them.

In this case, however, I have to say this air purifier works. I have bad sinuses and wake up congested every morning. My left nostril doesn't unclog until I get out of the shower. However, with this air purifier, I wake up with 70-80% less congestion. It's been my experience, that if you have a chronic problem, nothing is going to fix it 100%. However, waking up breathing 70-80% better, I'll take it.

Run the filter 24 hours a day, on high, and close your bedroom door. Due to it's loudness on high, I set it to medium before bed just to make sure my alarm still wakes me up, but I'm 95% sure it would still wake me up even if I kept it on high. It's no worse than running a fan on high from a white noise perspective. When you go out, turn the filter off, just to be safe. Also, it works best in a small room (i.e. 8x8), but my bedroom is 15x13 and it still makes a world of difference.

Highly recommend. As soon as I get some extra money, I'm buying the tower model for my living room.

Let me start off by letting you know that we have three cats and vacuming the rugs didn't solve the problem. After receiving the Honeywell 17005, we put it to work immediatley. We have no regrets what-so-ever. My girl and I breathe so much easier. I couldn't believe all that was collected by the prefilter (which is inexpensive to replace) before reaching the HEPA filter. We use the purifier in a large living and dining area. I believe we'll be buying one for the bedroom also. It's not the quietest but it does an excellent job!

Compact Size, Lots of Easy-To Operate Options, and Does an Impressive Job July 23, 2013

The air in my house is definitely fresher and cleaner after running the Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover. I found that I'm taking deeper and easier breaths because the air is just nicer to breathe. This is allergy season and the air has been heavy and full of allergens. I love breathing in the air after the Allergen Remover has cleaned it.

I like the compact size of the Honeywell True HEPA Allergen Remover. The instructions are easy to read. The unit has a number of options. It's easy to switch from General Cleaning to Allergen or the Germ removal option just by pressing the button once or twice. There's a TURBO option in case you are impatient, like me, and want fast results. It's A LOT noisier though, so unless you decide to use it for "white noise", you probably won't select the Turbo setting in your bedroom. I suppose you could imagine yourself sitting next to a huge waterfall as you sit back with a cup of coffee and read. You wouldn't be able to enjoy watching television with the setting on TURBO.

I have the unit on TURBO for Allergens right now. It's two rooms away from me and I can hear it. When I'm in the room with it, I won't be using the TURBO setting, but I use it when I know I'm going to be in another room shortly, and then I turn the setting back down when I'm ready to be there.

I like to keep the setting on Allergen. The sound is pleasant. It reminds me of an old-fashioned water-cooled window air conditioner. That setting is great for sleeping. It blocks out just the right amount of outside noise, although I was able to hear the thunderstorms that came through last night with the unit running.

I bought this from HomeDepot for $240. I bought this over their smaller $120 model because this has UV light cleaner + also eliminates Fungi, certain bacteria and certain viruses.

The unit is very quiet and has nice features like LCD lit display that shuts off on its own so it doesn't bother you at night, oscillation with a very wide range (about 170 degrees ) which is enough to cover all areas in a room, a timer that can run up to 15 hours I think, 12 levels of cleaning power and an ionizer.

It has 2 reusable HEPA Filters in it (type C) and a couple of washable filters that you can clean every 2-3 months with water. The HEPA filter can be vacuumed and reused. Or you can toss it and buy a new one for $24 from HomeDepot (or cheaper on Amazon).

The unit does send nice cool and fresh air and the air quality does feel better.

My family member would rub their eye when they entered the bedroom upstairs. I think it may be because of either mold spores or general allergies. We just got the roof replaced and getting mold remediation done next week, so we knew we had to keep the air clean. Now, after the unit is on, they no longer rub their eyes or eyes water. This tells us that the unit is indeed cleaning the air. We can do an air quality test but thats ok. The unit is rated for medium-large rooms and recirculates air about 5x times every 12 hours or so which means the air is getting filtered/purified.

This is a wonderful fan. It takes up little space, circulates a lot of air, has a larger oscillating range than others I have had, and is very quiet. The remote is a nice bonus, since you can make it stop blowing on you without having to get up. The only down side I can think of is that the fan is so low to the ground; if you like feeling it on your face or do not have an open area to put it in be prepared to have to put it on top of something such as a desk or table or consider finding a standing fan instead.REVIEWS..........
